Community Group Identifies Site for West Olympia Public Plaza

A public plaza and learning center should be a hub of public amenities and educational and recreational activities on Olympia’s west side that enriches the lives of its people regardless of age or income, and that fosters a strong sense of place and community. A plaza and learning center will provide an anchor to a fast growing community, offering a sense of place amidst rapid change and opportunities for public exchange and interaction. Many different activities can contribute to a vital community center, including such things as a public plaza and gathering place, outdoor performance space, environmental education facilities, art exhibit space, a kiosk library facility, or a dog park, among other things.
